Robert was born on December 16, 1932, in Villa Park, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois to parents Axel and Clara (Steinbach) Danielson.
Robert was attending the University of Illinois when he enlisted in U.S. Army where he served honorably for 2 years during the Korean War. Before being discharged he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal. After his discharge, he became a Mechanical Engineer and raised his three daughters with his wife Carol. He enjoyed travel, scuba diving, sailing on Lake Michigan, and golf. On April 6, 1986, Robert was united in marriage to Dorothy “Sunny” Nordstrom at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Chicago. The couple became acquainted with Hayward as Dorothy’s sister and family had lived here for many years and her daughter had a second home here. The couple retired to Hayward in the mid 1990’s and their home became the destination and hub of many family trips and gatherings throughout the years. Robert volunteered at the Hayward Hospital, the Hayward Library, and the American Cancer Society Cancer Closet.
