Rita R. Franz (84) of Cumberland, WI passed away peacefully Tuesday Nov 2, 2021 at home with family.

She was born in August 1937 in Cumberland WI to Lloyd and Norma (Zimbeck) Owens.

Rita was raised in the Cumberland area and attended Cumberland schools. She met Duane Franz while in high school and they married in Chisago City, Minnesota in 1955.

As a homemaker she raised her 4 children. Later, she worked as a waitress, then for Unisys, and retired from St. Jude Medical. She loved sewing, photography, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Later in life she joined the local Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane D Franz in 2000. She was also preceded in death by 1 brother and sister-in-law, Max and Bev Owens; 1 sister, JoAnn Robertson.

She is survived by 1 brother, Jon (Ann) Owens; 1 brother-in-law, Roger Robertson; 1 sister-in-law, Lois Owens; 2 sons, Dennis (Mary) Franz, David (Tricia) Franz; 2 daughters, Julie Clyma and Ginger (William) Dean; 8 grandchildren, Marissa, Jill, Laura, Danielle, Alexander, Jennifer, Justin, Savannah; and 11 great grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of life Friday, November 5 from 3-7pm at the family farm.
