In Memory of Rita A. Queener


October 3, 1935 - October 27, 2024

Rita Ann Queener, 89, of Shell Lake died Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Glenview Assisted Living Center.

She was born October 3, 1935 in Cumberland to Henry and Erla (Martinson) Cotone. She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1953, then moved to St. Paul, MN, where she worked at Piggly Wiggly, then Sunrise Market where she met Bob Queener who she then married in St. Paul, MN on April 11, 1966. They opened R & B Meat Market, which they operated until 1975. Rita and Bob moved to Timberland, where they raised Angus beef and performed custom butchering.

She is survived by her sisters: Judy (Valmer) Barrows of Hudson, Anne (Robert) Grignon of Olathe, KS, and Cathy (Don) Gunderson of Eau Claire; many nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, and sister, Lois.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Jayanna Kanna officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
