In Memory of Ricky T. Gustafson
Ricky “Hummer” Gustafson, age 63, passed away at St. Croix Falls Medical Center in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
Rick was born to parents Henning and Lavera (Owen) Gustafson on February 11, 1961, in New Richmond, Wisconsin. He grew up in rural Osceola and Nye, graduating from Osceola High School in 1980. Rick worked many years in the manufacturing industry, working at UFE in Dresser, Polaris in Osceola, then later at Bishop Industries in Balsam Lake. He took an early retirement when diagnosed with cancer in 2022. His early retirement allowed him time to do the things he loved most: fishing, hunting, and collecting agates. Rick was a skilled fisherman and hunter and boasted many impressive trophies. He was also a self-proclaimed rock-hound and could often be found with his nose to the ground looking for hidden treasures. He began polishing many of the stones he found, focusing mainly on Lake Superior agates. His collection of agates grew, and Rick began making jewelry to sell or give to friends and family. He was extremely proud of his agate collection, bringing some everywhere he went to show them off.
He is preceded in death by his parents Henning and Lavera Gustafson.
He is survived by his sister Donna (Brian Haas) Sigsworth; niece Deven (Scott) Bogstad; nephew Darren Sigsworth; great-nephew Owen Hurt; great-niece Clara Bogstad; many cousins, many friends, and Todd, the family’s beloved cat.
Memorial services for Rick will be held 11:00AM Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Osceola, Wisconsin. Visitation 2 hours prior. Burial at Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in Osceola at a later date.
