In Memory of Richard 'Dick' Piecuch


August 7, 1939 - October 22, 2024

Richard “Dick” Piecuch, age 85, of Hayward, WI, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Indianhead Medical Center in Shell Lake, WI.

Richard Joseph Piecuch was born August 7, 1939, in Chicago, IL the son of Joseph and Cecelia (Toczek) Piecuch. He was raised in Chicago and graduated from Weber High School in 1957. In his youth he would travel to Hayward, WI and work at 63 Inn and its restaurant. Dick went to work as a printer in Chicago for several years before moving to Hayward and purchasing the 63 Inn. On November 7, 1964, Dick was joined in marriage to Victoria Gorski at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward. Dick and Vickie operated the business over 25 years before selling in 1989. Dick then took a jobs with Hayward Laundry, Turks Inn and Jack Links Snacks. He worked until the age of 80 at Jack Links where he became affectionately called “grandpa” by many of his coworkers. Dick enjoyed listening to polkas, bowling, reading the newspaper, deer hunting, traveling to Wyoming and watching the Chicago Blackhawks, Cubs and Bears. He was a member of the Tavern Association, Hockey Association, Fresh Water Hall of Fame board, Hayward Sports Center board and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and always having a joke to tell.

Dick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vickie; four children, Barb (Larry) Dennis of Pinedale, WY, Brenda (Paul) McDermott of Rice Lake, WI, Rich (Linda) Piecuch of Green River, WY, Rod (Deb) Piecuch of Haugen, WI,; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren with two more on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, October 25th, 2024, at Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward with Deacon Dave DiSera officiating.
