In Memory of Raymond Haynes
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Raymond Haynes, 88, of Rice Lake, Wisconsin. On Monday, January 27, 2025, Raymond passed away at Dove Health Care in Spooner, Wisconsin.
Raymond was born on November 20, 1936, to his parents Raymond and Luella (Clough) Haynes in Spooner. After completing his schooling, Raymond enlisted in CO. E, 724th Engineer Bn, 32nd Infantry Div. of the Wisconsin National Guards based in Spooner. Raymond was called to active duty from October 1961 until August 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was honorably discharged in 1962 at Fort Lewis, Washington, and returned to Spooner to fulfill his enlistment in the National Guards.
Upon his return to Spooner, Raymond did what he loved to do, which was farming. He moved to the Twin Cities for a few years before returning to take over his father-in-law's farm. Raymond enjoyed hunting with his three children when they were growing up. A few of his favorite jobs throughout his life were working at Lund Boat Factory, farming, and, after retiring, working as an aid at Badger Bus Company. Raymond enjoyed dancing, playing cards–especially pinochle–and getting together with friends or family for meals. Most of all, he was known for his love of talking on the phone to check in and catch up with a quick ‘hello.’
Raymond is survived by his beloved wife Ethyl; his three children Lisa (Rich) Baker, Leroy (Barb) Haynes, and Willie (Glenda) Haynes; his four stepchildren Rhonda Corazalla, Phyllis Kyes, Myra (David) Wymer, and Ken (Linda) Wymer; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and his siblings Elnora (George) Shilts, Janet Lauterbach, Yvonne Miller, and Gordon Haynes. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Charles, William, and Robert; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service for Raymond will be held on May 16th, 2025, at the Spooner Funeral Home. Visitation from 12-1 PM followed by a service at 1 PM, with Pastor Jonathan Clupper officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, near Spooner.
