In Memory of Petr C. Nelson

December 19, 2011 - January 1, 2024

Petr “Pete” Christopher Nelson A young 59, of Rice Lake, WI, died Monday, January 1, 2024 in Rice Lake.

Pete was born on November 12, 1964 in Annapolis, Maryland to Richard and Barb Nelson.

He graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1983 and then attended WITC in New Richmond and graduated from WITC in Rice Lake as a Automotive Technician. He was married to (the saint) Lisa Rasmussen on June 11, 1988 at New Scandinavia Lutheran Church in Dallas, WI. He worked for Pomps, Swant Motor Company, South Lake Motors and proudly served on the Advisory board at WITC for the Automotive Technician program. Pete had an infectious laugh that would bring joy to everyone around him. He had a love for life documenting moments with his camera, riding his ATV, working on cars in the garage or walking his dogs. Even with his undeniable sweet tooth, he still loved the holidays handing out halloween candy (whatever he didn't eat) or hiding Easter eggs. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother and friend. "My dad was a kid at heart and brought a lot of joy. It is because of him that I grew into the person that I am. You were taken too soon and so quickly. Dad, I love you and miss you so much." - Sara Nelson "Pete wasn’t just my father, he truly knew what it meant to be a Dad. He was always ready to rise to the occasion, there was no problem he couldn’t handle. “Let’s do it” he would say. He had an infectious personality known to everyone around him, and touched a lot of lives. To say he will be missed doesn’t do him justice, or begin to describe the void he left. Instead rather to carry on with that spark he brought to everything, and carry him with us. I love you." - Matthew Nelson "As a caring brother, Pete brought me joy and undeniable humor. For all of us, his absence will be deep and never-ending. To the outside world we grew older, but not with him. We knew each other as we always were, outside the touch of time. He was not only my little brother, but my friend." - Robin Nelson “Who do I call now for car advice?” - Bob Nelson

He is survived by his lovely wife, Lisa, his son and daughter, Matthew and Sara (Nate) Nelson. His brothers Richard, Bob and sister Robin. Aunts; Kathy Madison, Judy Nelson and Ceceil Nelson; Uncle Gary Nelson; mother-in-law Mary Ann Rasmussen; and sisters-in-laws, Kristi (Rocky) Hilbert and Linda (Dan) Holmstrom plus many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Waiting for him are his mother and father, Barb and Richard (Dick) Nelson; Uncles Guy Nelson, Larry Nelson, Rod Madison; father-in-law Donald Rasmussen; also his dogs Maggie, Bailey, and Charlie.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting and serving the family with the arrangements.
