In Memory of Peter Raye
Peter David Raye, (Pete) of Luck, WI, passed away December 14, 2019, after a long battle with cancer at the age of 74. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Pete was born in Superior, Wisconsin on October 25, 1945, to Peter Raye and Charlotte (Flaherty) Raye. Pete was a former School Psychologist, Pupil Services Director, and coached athletes at Unity Schools until his retirement. During his baseball coaching career, he received numerous district and state awards including Assistant Baseball Coach of the Year from the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association in 1999.
Pete served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Superior with a Bachelor Science in Social Work and Psychology and two Masters of Science degrees in Psychology. He was instrumental in establishing Polk County Kinship and was a Board member and Mentor for many years. Up until his death, he was President of Polk County Interfaith Caregivers and volunteered as an inservice instructor and driver for many years.
He is survived by Dorlene (Dorrie) Raye his loving wife and best friend of 49 years; sons, Patrick (Stephanie Gudmunsen), Jeremy (Stephanie Ruff); his grandchildren, the apples of his eye of whom he was very proud, Ethan, Emma and Cecily. He was also survived by his sister, Diane Kruger of Superior, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of life will be held summer of 2020.
