Peggy Smith Ekum, age 78, of Birchwood, WI, died Monday, March 17, 2025 in Marshfield, WI.

She was born on January 13, 1947 in Menomonie, WI to Willis and Gladys (Hinzman) Smith. She attended Menomonee High School graduating in 1965. In 1967 she moved to Eau Claire, WI where she worked many jobs, her last 25 years she worked at Super America, Speedway, Holiday and Mega Holiday. In 1969 she met the love of her life, Duane, they were married on May 29, 1969 in Ocean Side, California where he was stationed with the United States Marines. They moved to Birchwood, WI in 2013. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, 4wheeling and watching the wildlife.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Duane Ekum; 2 children, Corey (Jade) Ekum and Sandra Sack; 3 grandchildren, Brett Sack, Nadia Parpart and Logan Parpart; a brother, David Smith; her best friend - her canine, Lucy; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Gladys Smith; a sister, Sandy DeLong; and a brother, Alan Smith.
