Peggy Ann Athman, 65, of Shell Lake passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, peacefully at her home. She was born February 22, 1958, in Marshall, MN to Elmer and Betty (Lund) VanMoorlehem.

She was married on October 20, 1979, to Jeff Athman. After marriage they lived many years in Bloomington, MN where they raised their son, Joe. Peggy worked as an accountant for years in downtown Minneapolis before going on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. She worked as an accountant and controller for several companies and was always proud of her work. Even after retiring from the working world, she continued to find reasons to open up Excel and work in a spreadsheet.

Peggy loved being with friends and family. She was known as someone who would throw a great party, and welcomed people with open arms into her life. Peggy could sense when someone she cared about needed a phone call or flowers. She listened well, without judgment, and gave great advice.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jeff; son, Joe Athman (Jolee French); grandson, Caden; parents, Elmer and Betty VanMoorlehem; seven siblings, Jim VanMoorlehem, Sandy Lambert (Tom), Jan St. Aubin (Doug), Doug VanMoorlehem (Sue), Brenda Bernardy (Gary Manes), Barb Otterson (Bill), and Darlene Gonnerman (Ray); numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.

Private funeral services will be held at 6 PM Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Skinner Funeral Home in Shell Lake. Visitation will begin at 5 PM. Peggy’s Final Hurrah with all of her family and friends will be held next June.
