In Memory of Paul Schaefer
Paul Raymond Schaefer, 87, of Shell Lake passed, March 2, 2019 at Indianhead Medical Center. He was born December 29, 1931 in Colfax, WI to Alfred and Sylvia (Studebaker) Schaefer. He was married in Shell Lake, WI on July 24, 2004 to Bev Osborn.
Paul farmed all of his life at the family farm in Shell Lake. While working on the farm he discovered his passion and love of bees. He was an avid beekeeper for 61 years; he loved any chance to share some of his knowledge. When he was not working in the field, with his bees, or making honey, Paul could be found with his nose in a good book.
He is survived by: his wife: Bev Schaefer; 2 sons: David (Barbara) Schaefer, and Dan Schaefer; 4 step-daughter: Debra Couch, Darlene Zillmer, Bonnie Johanson, and Becky Smith; 5 grandchildren: Brianna, Caitlyn, Shania (Franklen) Keys, Issac, and Colten Schaefer; 9 step-grandchildren: Colleen Smith, Tanya Waugh, Amanda Swiggum, Andrew Smith, Daniel Johanson, Erin Hughes, Jyssica Johanson, Matt Smith, and Amy Smith; 12 step-great-grandchildren; nieces nephews, and many other family and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol; his second wife, Betty; sister: Lorane Minkley, brothers: Donald, Rolland, and Marvin Schaefer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Shell Lake United Methodist Church, with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Reverend Steve Miller will be officiating. Burial will be in Shell Lake Cemetery in the spring. Pallbearers are Dean Bergquist, Tom Schaefer, Harold Henriksen Jr., Matt Smith, and Richard Waugh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
