In Memory of Patricia 'Pat' Johnson
Patricia Johnson, age 81, a lifelong resident of Spooner, died on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Rice Lake.
Pat was born on March 12, 1943, in rural Spooner to parents William and Sophie (Maday) Bassett. She attended the Green Grove County School and then graduated early from Spooner High School. In 1960, she was united in marriage to Henry “Hank” Johnson. Pat volunteered at the Spooner Nursing Home, and later worked at the Surplus Outlet. In 1973, they purchased the Riverside 66 and later moved to the old Kronlund Auto Shop building and opened Hank and Jon’s Oak Street Auto, where Pat worked as the Administrative Assistant in charge of the financial portion of the business. Pat was an active member of the Spooner United Methodist Church and a member of the Sarah Circle. She also served on the Town of Spooner Election Board for many years, was a member of the Spooner Hospital Auxiliary, and enjoyed bowling. She loved cooking for and being surrounded by her family and friends. She was an accomplished crafter in the areas of quilting, knitting, and other general crafts. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, playing cards and scrabble, puzzles, and antiques.
Pat is survived by her children: son Jon Sr. (Shelly) Johnson, son James (Melisa) Johnson, daughter Tammy (Keith) Hanley, honorary son Joe, grandchildren: Jessie, Jake, Dayna, Dani, Taylor, Blake, Colton, Garin, Julia, Natasha, Roger, Roshelle, Zach, Jon Jr., Brittney, Caitlin, Lynsey, great grandchildren: Jimmy, Chloe, Charlie, Nora, Casey, Evie, Cadence, Addison, Maddie, Mason, brother Leroy (Jan) Bassett, brother Roger (Sandy) Bassett, sister in law Marie Bassett, and brother in law Don Christner.
Pat is preceded in death by her husband Henry “Hank” Johnson, parents Bill and Sophie Bassett, sister Deloris Christner, and brothers Chet and Billy Bassett.
Memorial services for Pat Johnson will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 1pm, at the Spooner Funeral Home with Pastor Ferdinand Serra officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Sunday, at the Funeral Home from noon until 1pm. Interment will follow at the Spooner Cemetery with continued gathering of friends and family at the Spooner United Methodist Church with cake and coffee after the interment.
