Nora M. McBride, age 66, of Minong, WI passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at her home. 

Nora Mary McBride was born December 13, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of John and Frances (Maher) McBride. She was raised in Mendota Heights, MN and graduated from Sibley High School in 1969. She attended Bemidji State University and then the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis for photojournalism. After her education she became involved with machinery design and began work with 3M. Nora continued her work in machinery design and was under contract to numerous businesses. She met Stanley Ostlund in 1974 and worked with him off and on over the years. They were married on September 25, 1993 in St. Paul, MN and moved to Minong, WI in 1996, where they designed and built machinery together for their own business, Douglas Automation Inc. Nora truly enjoyed living on the Minong Flowage and all the forest critters around their property. Two of her favorite pastimes were painting with watercolors and flower gardening. An amazing, beautiful, talented, smart, and brave woman, Nora was loved throughout her life by innumerable friends ranging from those who’ve known her since her childhood to the vibrant community of people in the Minong area. She will be greatly missed by all.

Nora was preceded in death by her parents and sister Katie McBride. She is survived by her husband, Stanley; stepchildren Caralyn Ostlund (Al Henry) of Fall River Mills, CA, Christine (Mark) Harder of Farmington, MN, and Thomas (Sunny) Ostlund of South Lake Tahoe, CA; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six siblings (all in MN) Gene McBride (Linda Laird) of Minneapolis, Mike McBride (Roz Drew) of Mendota Heights, Joe McBride (Roz) of Inver Grove Heights, Mary McBride (Tom Roloff) of Inver Grove Heights, Meg McBride (Dan Spolarich) of Hermantown, Loowey McBride (Tom Lonnee) of South Saint Paul, Annie McBride (Pete Eckman) of Cloquet; and many nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of Nora’s life will be April 28, 12 noon to 5 pm, at Minong City Hall, 9275 Nancy Lake Road.
