
In Memory of Neil E. Korn
Neil Edward Korn, age 101, of Chippewa Falls, WI, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Wisconsin Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls.
Neil was born March 22, 1923, in Stanley, WI the son of Antone and Mary (Couture) Korn. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943 and honorably discharged in 1945. Neil completed battles and campaigns in Normandy, France, Northern France, Rhineland, Germany and Africa. He was the recipient of five military medals for his service. Congressman Derrick Van Orden awarded the medals to Neil as he was one of our nation’s heroes from the greatest generation. Michelle Beaudin was also there representing LCO and she read a proclamation from the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Governing Board in which she stated Neil was the oldest living LCO Member and the great grandson of Zhenowa and Joseph DeMarr. After World War II, Neil sought solitude and moved to Ketchikan, Alaska, where he was a commercial fisherman for many years. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren, telling stories and making maple syrup at the family farm in Cornell, WI.
He is survived by his son Mark (Beth) Korn; daughter-in-law June Korn; grandchildren Scott Korn, Terry Korn, Dorothy Villarreal & Pamela Mares; several great grandchildren; many nieces & nephews.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents; son Jack Korn; siblings Leonard, Elmo, Clifton, Alvin, Wayne, Deloris, Dorthy & Jean.
Tribal Funeral Prayers will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 17, 2025, at Pineview Funeral Service. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Special gratitude to St. Croix Hospice, Wisconsin Veterans Home, Rodger Kubera for his unwavering support and all of Neil’s nieces and nephews who took time to visit. A special thank you to Joy Lancor and Kathy Goettl for all their special help. Neil’s passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends and many whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him for the way he lived and the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
