In Memory of Natalye V. (Collins) Sloan
Natalye Victoria Sloan passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Oakwood Health Services in Altoona, WI; with her son Robert (Bob) by her bedside. She was born October 20, 1933 in Webster, WI. After high school in Superior, WI, Natalye worked at a hotel in Gordon, WI where she met her future husband, Loren. They were united in marriage on March 29, 1951.
When her two youngest sons graduated from high school, the family moved to Gordon. Both Natalye and Loren were very active in the community and had many friends. They were both Elders in the Presbyterian Church; became involved in local politics and were members of the Gordon American Legion. Natalye also worked outside the home as a bookkeeper at Holzberg’s Laundry in Superior; as a real estate agent and at Wikinson’s Deer Farm in Wascott, WI. Perhaps her most loved job was as a field technician collecting and analyzing precipitation samples for a federally funded acid rain study.
Natalye was a member of the Eastern Star, serving as a Worthy Matron, a member of the local Red Hat Society and helped establish the Lucius Woods Performing Arts Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren and youngest son Gary; her parents, Bill and Ivy; and her siblings, Nancy (Duane) Peterson and Nathan (Anne) Collins.
She is survived by her sons Rich and Bob (Jan). Special mention goes out to Rich, who was a care-giver to his parents in their later years.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the St. Croix Presbyterian Church in Gordon, WI, where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service. A private burial will take place in the spring.
