In Memory of Nancy McConkey

January 21, 1934 - March 7, 2021

Nancy Ann McConkey, age 87, a resident of Danbury passed away on March 7, 2021 at St. Mary’s in Duluth. Nancy was born on January 21, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa to George and Clara (Thompson) Mabrier.

On November 28, 1952 Nancy married the love of her life Don McConkey in Des Moines, Iowa. Together they raised 5 children.

Nancy worked as a dish washer, for over 20 years, at the St. Croix Casino in Danbury. She worked full time until she was 83.

One of Nancy’s motivations that kept her going and, on her toes, was her grandchildren. She loved to spend her free time with her family. Nancy was a fantastic cook. She made the best pies, but she was known for her delicious fried chicken the most. Nobody can fry chicken like she did.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Don; sisters, Alice, Josephine, Theadora; brothers, Ralph, Lester, Paul, George, Kenny, Carrol; and great granddaughter, Norah.

Nancy is survived by her children, Bonita (John) Robertson, Donnie (LeeAnn) McConkey, Steve (Liz) McConkey, Becky McConkey, Dawna (Roy Hildreth) McConkey; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will we held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Webster on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 1:00 PM (visitation 12:00 – 1:00 PM) with Father Chandra Ery officiating.
