In Memory of Nancy Martin
Nancy Kay Martin, age 74, of Ojibwa, WI, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019.
Nancy was born on February 1, 1945, in Prairie City, Oregon, the daughter of Adolf and Marjorie (Belbeck) Jarosz. She grew up on the family farm in Ojibwa and attended Winter School where she met the love of her life. Nancy and Robert were joined in marriage on October 9, 1961. They began their journey together and moved to Two Harbors, MN. She also lived in Rapid City, SD for a short time. The majority of her life Nancy lived in Ojibwa, where she raised her three children. She was a dedicated and loving mother first and foremost. Nancy treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She owned and operated Martin’s Chippewa Pines for several years. Nancy worked as a store clerk for her Uncle Sid and Aunt Peg’s hardware store (Goffin’s) in Radisson, WI. She worked for Thompson’s Sand and Gravel in Hayward for a greater part of her life as receptionist/dispatcher, where she retired in 2000.
After retiring Nancy continued her especially loved role in life as, “Grandma.” There was nothing she would not do for her grandchildren. Our hearts are broken in grief from our loss. She is looking down on us as our Guardian Angel in heaven. As a Mother’s hand is always gentle, they’re missed so very much for having a warm and tender touch.
Nancy had many activities that she enjoyed. She loved to go fishing and she loved being outdoors. Nancy loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. Her kitchen was known for all the great smells of everything that she had cooking. Everyone was always welcome, and no one ever went home hungry.
She enjoyed bowling with friends. Nancy could light up a room, with her great personality and laughter. She had a love for Country Western music, which she shared with her grandchildren. They all appreciate the classics because of her.
Nancy showered us with kindness and shared with us her love. She cherished every moment with whom she loved. She will always be nestled close within our hearts.
She is survived by her husband Robert Martin of 58 years; son Todd (Sissy) Martin; daughters Cynthia Martin and Lisa (Paul) Thompson; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brother Thomas (Karen) Jarosz & Victor Jarosz; sister Cora (Terry) Strouf; sister-in-law Marg Jarosz; many nephews, nieces & cousins.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Jarosz; and nephew, Robert Jarosz Jr.
A private family service was held on September 27, 2019. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 25, 2019. The location and time are to be determined.
