In Memory of Nancy K. Kobs

April 15, 1945 - October 2, 2024

Nancy Kay Kobs, age 79, passed away on October 2nd, 2024 at Amery Hospital. She was surrounded by family members flowers, and photo albums of many special moments.

Nancy was born in Amery, Wisconsin on April 15th, 1945 to Russell and Ethelyn Mork. She was raised on a farm outside of Deer Park and graduated from Amery High School in 1963. In November of 1963, Nancy married Allen Alvin Kobs and together they had five children – Scott Kobs, Rick Kobs, Brenda Kobs (Hopkins), Jeff Kobs, and Susan Kobs – all of whom meant the world to her.

Nancy was strong and stubborn, and her work ethic was unmatched. After Allen’s passing in 1993, Nancy continued working and raising her children without missing a beat. She would also go on to help raise multiple grandchildren throughout the years, which kept her young and spry (but might have given her a few extra wrinkles). Work was always a second home for Nancy, and she made many great friends over the years that became a part of her extended family. Nancy even worked throughout her cancer treatments, saying that work kept her busy and gave her an audience to entertain. She was particularly grateful for the meals and pranks that she shared with her Unisource co-workers.

Nancy was a one-of-a-kind lady. Anyone who knew her also knew that she was quick-witted and always had a joke to tell or a prank to pull. If you ever went to visit, you’d better be hungry because Nancy would be waiting with cheese and crackers, percolator coffee, and whatever Pinterest recipe she had experimented with – she loved to feed people and shoot the breeze. She also loved a good bargain and enjoyed thrift shopping with her daughters and pinching pennies any way she could.

Nancy was always grateful for what she had, and her positive outlook on life – even throughout her treatments – was unwavering and inspiring. Nancy will always be remembered for her caring and selfless acts. She made sure that everybody around her – family, friends, and neighbors – had the things that they needed.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband (Allen), parents (Russell and Ethelyn), brother (Dick), sister (Sharon), and grandson Michael). She is survived by all five children, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 9th from 12:00-3:00pm at East Immanuel Lutheran Church (come and go as you please). Feel free to dress in your favorite flannel as we gather to enjoy some of Nancy’s signature dishes prepared by her loved ones, view photo albums of special moments, and share our favorite Nancy stories.

In lieu of cards or flowers, those interested in honoring Nancy’s legacy can support a local thrift shop and raise a little hell. Please enjoy the obituary photo approved by Nancy herself.
