Nancy Jane Safeblade Age 64, of Rice Lake, WI, died Friday, June 23, 2023 in Spooner, WI.

She was born on September 25, 1958 in Hinsdale, Illinois to John and Evelyn (Collins) Safeblade.

Nancy graduated from Hinsdale Central High School and Ripon College with a degree in Political Science. After graduating from college Nancy was a nanny in France and worked in a kibbutz in Israel. She was also a nurse’s aide for many years. She enjoyed reading, swimming, sailing, hiking and camping.

She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Safeblade; a sister, Barbara Albrecht (James Hale); 2 brothers, John Safeblade and David (Debbie) Safeblade; her partner, Dave Zaspel; foster sister, Dori Miranda; foster brother, Ken (Sue) Rivera; and foster nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, John Safeblade; a brother-in-law, Richard Albrecht; her companion dog, Jessie James.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI, with a luncheon to follow the service. Memorials would be appreciated to Maple Ridge Care Center in Spooner or the Spooner United Methodist Church.
