In Memory of Nancy Catlin


July 18, 1933 - May 1, 2019

Nancy Lee Alice Catlin, 85, of Turtle Lake died Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at her home. She was born July 18, 1933 in St. Paul, MN to Ralph Royal and Cecilie Catherine (Lee) Kolstad. She was married in Christ Lutheran Church, Pipe Lake on August 11, 1951 to Emmett Alfonso Catlin who preceded her in death on August 23, 2007.

Nancy was a collector of many things; included in her collection were numerous amounts of books, pens, clothing, and costume jewelry. She loved to read, create beautiful pottery pieces, paint and admire flowers. Nancy had a wonderful sense of humor with the gift of gab, which will be deeply missed by her friends and family, especially her daughters.

She served as a proud life member of the VFW in Almena. She had a love for learning and did not let time stop her from going back to school. Nancy earned her Associates Degree at UW Barron County in Rice Lake and her Bachelors of Arts at UW Eau Claire.

Nancy is survived by 3 daughters: Karen (Randy) Bording, Kathryn England, Susan ("Stub" Theodore) Catlin Swenson; 12 grandchildren: Mike, Constance, Shawn, Tracy, Christopher, Heather, Jonathan, Rachel, Jason, Sara, Shanna, and Jeremy; many great-grandchildren; 2 great-great- grandchildren; siblings: Joann (the late Harold) Catlin, Ralph (Mary Jean) Kolstad, Jerry (Vicki) Kolstad, Jeff (Libby) Kolstad, Wayne (Judy) Kolstad, John (Sue) Kolstad, and Patrick (Mary) Kolstad; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends; and her constant companion: Tigger. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Catlin; children: Richard Catlin, Ruth Hartley and John Catlin; parents, Ralph and Cecilie Kolstad.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Christ Lutheran Church, Pipe Lake with Pastor Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Comstock. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Monday, May 6, 2019 at Skinner Funeral Home in Turtle Lake; and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
