In Memory of Myron Orton


August 26, 1938 - April 30, 2021

Myron (Iron Mike) Orton, 82, of Chetek, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday afternoon April 30, 2021 at his home.

He was born on August 26, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the son of the late Everett and Dorothy (Riely) Orton.

He married his first wife, Doris Shreck, at Fort Riley, Kansas in 1963. Later that year and after his discharge from the Army; he and Doris moved to his family farm. Myron worked many years in the trucking industry. Before marrying his second wife Linda Swant, Myron embarked on owning a garbage route, sand and gravel and land fill business. He retired in 2012.

He had a great love for operating heavy equipment, tearing things apart and putting them back together. He will be remembered for his dedication and hard work and his loyalty to his friends and neighbors.

Mike is survived by his two children: Linda (Gordy) Garske and Kimerly Pierce, step-son, Chuck Wood, four grandchildren: Ryan (Amber) Donald, Mariah Garske, Nathan (Tzeitel) Pierce and Breana (Neil) Stanley, six great-grandchildren: Josie, Reilyn, Gracie, Maisyn, Lennon and Abram, one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Dorothy Orton, and his brother, Tilden.

As per Mike’s wishes, there will be no services held. Mike’s family would like to extend their thanks to Lakeview Medical Center Hospice for their caring and compassionates care to Myron and his family.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home, Chetek, has been entrusted with arrangements.
