Michael Norman "Mike" Powell, 63, of Cumberland died Thursday, November 15, 2018 at his home. He was born December 10, 1954 in Frederic, WI to Norman and Janette (Roberts) Powell. He graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1973, then served with the US Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was married in Cumberland, WI on August 26, 1978 to Barbara Vucenic. Mike worked for over 30 years for the Town of Maple Plain, retiring in 2016. Mike enjoyed hunting, logging, rock hunting, assisting with the 4H dog project, motorcycling and repairing cars. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Barb of Cumberland; their daughter, Monica LaVeau of Shell Lake; 2 grandchildren: LeLu and Micah; two nieces, two nephews and several cousins. Mike was preceded in death by his parents.

A brief prayer will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Cumberland Baptist Church led by Pastor Gary Dorn and with full military honors accorded by the Anderson-Thomson Post #98 American Legion immediately following. Burial will be in the spring at Lorain Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the church.
