In Memory of Michael Melton


July 10, 1961 - April 24, 2019

Michael Edward Melton, 57, of Turtle Lake passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire after a difficult battle with cancer. He was born July 10, 1961 in Hudson, WI to Frank and Verneal (Taylor) Melton. The family moved to Spooner and Mike graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1979. Mike's career as a long haul truck driver took him all across the United States. He was married in Shell Lake Full Gospel on June 4, 2016 to Karen King.

Mike was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa. He loved to hunt, fish, ride his motorcycle and spend time in the outdoors. He also had real talent as a pencil artist, had a great sense of humor, loved to cook and eat and visit with family and his many friends. Mike lived a Christ centered life, and it showed in his family life and his interactions with the world around him. His hearty laugh, rich speaking and singing voice will be fondly remembered.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen of Turtle Lake and her children Jesse Charles and Jamie Charles; their children: Polly, Jaymison and Willie, Jr.; his daughters: Kristan Lange and Karleigh Melton; their children: Troy Chambers, Tayden Feggestad, Carter Feggestad, Kinsey Lange, Kyra Dresser and Zoey Dwyer; extended family: Jessi (Mike) Church, Michael (Gretchen) Olson, and Angie (Dan) Becker; his father, Frank Melton; brothers: Frank (Kathy) Melton and Joe (Daniel Clements) Melton; sisters: Teresa Melton, Tammy (Andy) Lehmann and Mary (Peter) Baumgart; nephews: Adrian Melton, Kaleb (Sam) Melton, Eli Baumgart, Drew Lehmann, Ryan (Gabby) Lehmann, Charlie (Jessie) Trudelle and Shayne Trudelle; nieces: Jessica Melton, Nichole Lehmann, Elizabeth (Ben) Gieseke, Jessica Clements and Angie Trudelle; great nephews: Christopher Melton and Aidan Holm, his church family and his beloved Chaweenie, Louie.

A memorial service honoring Mike's life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday May 1, 2019 at Shell Lake Full Gospel Church with Pastor Reg Myers officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Skinner Funeral Home of Shell Lake is serving the family.
