In Memory of Michael E. Molamphy

Michael “Mike” Edward Molamphy, 75, of Turtle Lake, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.

Mike grew up in Fox Creek, WI where he discovered his passion for hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors including many trips to the family deer shack. After graduating high school Mike served in the Coast Guard for 4 years, where he met his soulmate, Anita. They met in Massachusetts in 1969 and after two love-filled years, they married in August 1971. Together they moved to Wisconsin and over the next 53 years, they built a loving life with three children and countless cherished memories.

After his military service, Mike transitioned to a career in truck driving. While initially fixing TVs on the side, he eventually found a long-term position with Becker’s Trucking, hauling milk and cream until his retirement. Outside of work, it wouldn’t be unusual to find Mike with a record player, a beer, and Dave ‘The Reverend’ Fletcher and other good friends.

Mike embodied the spirit of a Midwest Cowboy, indulging in activities from camping and gun range sessions to “occasional” evenings at the local tavern. Much like his love for westerns, those close to him loved his passion for storytelling. Some of Mike’s many other passions include reading, completing crossword puzzles, and being a serious collector (aka mild hoarder). Like the collector he was, Mike held many stories near and dear to his heart that now live on through those fortunate enough to have heard them.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Anita Molamphy; his children, Shannon (Keith) Argetsinger, Patraic (Bonnie) Molamphy, and Cullen (Angel) Molamphy; his sister, Patricia Kastens; six grandchildren, Miranda (Richard) Canchola, Alexa Argetsinger, Athena Hiemstra, Payton Molamphy, Hannah Molamphy, and Cadaynce Molamphy; great-grandchild, Gabriel Canchola; and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on February 1, 2024, at the American Legion in Turtle Lake. The celebration will begin at 1pm and military honors take place at 2:30pm to commemorate this veteran.
