Michael “Mike” Dean Messner Age 74, of Rice Lake, WI, died Wednesday, August 30, 2023 in Cumberland, WI.

He was born on January 29, 1949 in St. Paul, MN to George and Vivian (Vine) Messner.

His mother and grandmother moved back to Rice Lake when he was in grade school and his grandmother was a huge part of his life. Mike graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1967. He was married to Annette Madison on June 27, 1970 in Chetek, WI. Mike worked for Rice Lake Business Machines for many years. He was very active in and Vice President of the Hungry Hollow Steam and Gas Engine Club and has been a member of the club for 50 years. Mike loved talking with the people, running the steam engine and announcing the parade at Hungry Hollow. Mike loved and adored his grandchildren and enjoyed golf cart rides around the woods.

He is survived by his wife, Annette Messner; 2 daughters, Becky (Brian) Roy and Roxie (Curt) Kemmitz; 3 grandchildren, Zoey Kemmitz, Nick Roy and Izzy Kemmitz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vivian Messner; and his grandmother, Zella Vine.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Sue Eidahl officiating. Visitation will be held from 9-11AM at the Church. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is serving the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Bethany Lutheran Church and Hungry Hollow Steam and Gas Engine Club.
