Mary Lou Palcic Age 85, of Birchwood, WI, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023 in Barron, WI.

She was born on August 27, 1937 in Rice Lake, WI to Louie and Alyce (Cyr) Beffa.

Mary Lou graduated from Birchwood High School in 1955. Mary Lou worked as a waitress at Lake Lawn Lodge in Delavan, WI where she met her future husband. She was married to Steven Palcic on February 16, 1957 in Birchwood. Mary Lou was a homemaker and also worked several various jobs throughout her life. Later in life she met Edward Baumgarten and they spent 12 years together and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2023. She enjoyed bowling, going to the casino, knitting and crocheting. She loved watching the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and the Milwaukee Brewers.

She is survived by 4 children, Michael Palcic, John (Jacqui) Palcic, Jill (Russell) Hirsch and Cheryl (Joseph) Wilfert; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Roger Beffa; a sister-in-law, Virginia Furrer; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Palcic; a grandson, David Palcic; her parents, Louie and Alyce Beffa; 2 brothers, Willie and Roy Beffa (in which she gave her kidney to him).

A celebration of her life will be held at 11AM Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, Father Adam Laski officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Birchwood.

Visitation will be held from 930-11AM Saturday, June 24 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals.

A special thank you goes out to Jim and Linda Gunderson and to the American Legion Post #379 for all the special care and love that they gave to Mary Lou.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Birchwood American Legion.
