Mary Kathryn (Pero) Hanson, of Spooner, WI, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Glenview Assisted Living in Shell Lake, WI.

Mary was born in St. Paul, MN on September 24, 1932, to parents, William and Rose (Kopet) Pero.

She attended school in Brule, WI and then Iron River, WI, where she graduated. On June 9, 1951, Mary married the love of her life, George Hanson, in Iron River, and the couple went on to have 3 wonderful children together.

Mary was a passionate knitter and homemaker, especially baking, and took great pride in taking care of her home and family. She took a special interest in birds, with cardinals being her favorite. Mary loved to play cards, her favorite games being bridge and cribbage with George, and would play smear with the family.

Mary is survived by her children, Karen (David) Hopp of Spooner, WI, Kathryn (Rodney) Lindemann of Marshfield, WI, and David Hanson of Vesper, WI; sister, Rose Reijo of Superior, WI; brother-in-law, Eugene Hanson of Duluth, MN; grandchildren, Theresa, Anna, Sara, Jacob, Jarod, and Ryan; and great grandchildren, Mya, Mason, Lena, and Quinn.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George, parents, and brother.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Spooner at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation starting at 11:00 a.m.
