In Memory of Mary 'Joyce' Danz
Mary “Joyce” Danz, age 95 passed away with her family at her side on June 28, 2024 at Brentwood Memory Care in Rice Lake, WI. She was born September 6, 1928 in Ashland, WI to Willard and Jeretta (Wallace) Wilson.
Joyce had a blessed life, from a wonderful childhood in a close family, to her 51-year marriage to a very special Christian man. Besides being a great stay at home Mom, never missing her children’s sporting or school events, Joyce loved crafting, cooking, and was a talented seamstress - she had the patience to do it all! She loved words and was skilled in Scrabble, as well as being a Wheel of Fortune pro. Like her own Mom, she was also a sports enthusiast, and often impressed those around her with her wealth of knowledge surrounding any team, sport, or player. Some kind of sporting event was always on her TV from NFL football to Little League baseball championships. Joyce also enjoyed bowling in leagues with her husband, Harry, throughout the years. She was very active in the church, from teaching Sunday School and VBS to women’s groups and church meals, including serving at the church’s food booth at the fair. Her main role in later years was as grandma. She found joy in spending time with all her grandkids and great grandkids, whether in Hawaii or at the house on Silver Lake.
She is survived by children, James "Jim" (Kauionalani) Danz of Kaneohe, HI, Thomas "Tom" (Marilyn) Danz of Neenah, WI, and Catherine "Cathy" (David) Mitchell of Almena, WI; grandchildren, Nanea (Andrew), Joshua (Jaylene), Brian (Stacy), Tricia (Jason), Leighton, Jordan (Allie), Joshua (Jill) and Jonathan (Abi); great-grandchildren, Dylan, Kaila, Kailene, Kaikona, Ryder, Jaymson, Jeynsen, Caleb, Sarah, Natalie, Nathan, Emma, Connor, Caiden, Madison, Destina, and Ayla; and one great-great-grandchild, Shycetyn.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; parents, Willard and Jeretta; and siblings, Ken, Sam, Alice, Audrey, Ethel, and Jackie.
A Memorial Service will be held in late July at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Almena.
