In Memory of Marvin D. Coleman


June 30, 1945 - July 6, 2023

Marvin D. Coleman (78) of rural Amery, formerly of Turtle Lake passed away peacefully at his home on July 6, 2023. He was born June 30, 1945 in Austin, Minnesota to Kenneth and Lois (Schiefelbein) Coleman.

Marv grew up on a farm near Grand Meadow, Minnesota until his family moved to the farm on Highway 63 in rural Turtle Lake in 1957. He attended Clayton High School, graduating in 1963. Marv served in the National Guard and was called to Active Duty in 1966.

In 1968, he was married to Jean Bruner of rural Amery. Together they had two sons, Lee and Kent.

Marv farmed with his father and took over the family farm continuing to farm until 2001. After
retirement he continued to work various jobs in the area.

He enjoyed a large garden, baking and classic farm tractors especially Oliver. If he stopped over you were sure to get a joke and a dozen eggs. He was faithful with donating blood and did so proudly every chance he could. He donated over 30 gallons of blood, which was CMV negative, used for saving babies.

He is survived by his sons, Lee Coleman and Kent (Wendy) Coleman; five grandchildren James, Kyler, Dustin, Kelcy and Kassy all of Turtle Lake; sisters Nancie (Dave) Gullickson, Mary Arlene (Don) Grivna; Carolyn (Wally) Vossen and Marsha (Stanley) Stoeberl and brother Kendall Coleman. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Coleman; mother, Lois Coleman and infant brother Kevin.

Funeral services will be held at 4-7 PM Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Skinner Funeral Home in Turtle Lake.

Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland/ Turtle Lake is serving the family.
