In Memory of Mark J. Fritz


November 23, 2023 - October 5, 1944

Mark John Fritz, Sr. of Trego, WI passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side.

Mark was born on October 5, 1944 in Moline, IL to William and Gladys Fritz. He attended school in Minneapolis, MN, Menomonee, MI and graduated from Green Bay East High School in Green Bay, WI in 1963. After high school, he joined the Navy where he served for 6 years, enjoying his travels.

After the Navy, he completed a 5-year apprenticeship for machinist/tool and die maker in Barrington, IL. He married Janet Brown on June 15, 1968 in Crystal Lake, IL and then welcomed two children into their family.

In 1975, they moved to Trego, WI and Mark worked for almost 30 years at Wright Products in Rice Lake, WI while also building his own company, Trego Machine and Tool. Eventually he co-owned the company with his brother, Bill and son, Mark, Jr. In 2000 they moved the company to Barron, WI.

Mark always looked forward to the Spring turkey camp with his family and friends as well as the Fall deer camp. He enjoyed four wheeling and riding on the pontoon and looking for new recipes for his smoker.

Mark is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janet, his daughter, Sally (Ayric) Nielsen of Barronett, WI, his son, Mark, Jr. (Heather) Fritz of Shell Lake, WI, his grandchildren, Brady Nielsen, Eli, Adam, and Michaela Fritz. He is also survived by a brother, Phil (Joyce) Fritz of Missoula, MT, a sister, Lyn (Ron) Sutheimer of Stevens Point, WI, a sister-in-law, Jean Fritz of Milaca, MN and many cousins and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Susan, a brother, Bill, and an infant sister, Kimberly.

A visitation will be held at The Spooner Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00pm, with a viewing from 10:00-11:00am at the Sarona United Methodist Church. A service will follow at 11:00 followed by a luncheon at the church and burial at Earl Cemetery in Earl, WI.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Sarona United Methodist Church or the Wounded Warriors Project.
