In Memory of Marjorie Lawrence
Marjorie Ruth Giese was born near Hancock, MN on December 24, 1936. Margie was the fourth of five children – Darlene, Harvey, Ruby, and Daniel – born to Emil and Ella Giese.
Margie was baptized in Hancock on January 24, 1937. She was confirmed at Synnes Lutheran Church in November 1950 and graduated from Alberta High School in 1954. Margie was active in the Lutheran Church, in Women’s Circles and singing in choirs.
In 1955, Margie met Laurel Lawrence through his sister, Karen. Laurel and Margie were married on May 25, 1957 at Synnes Lutheran Church. They lived near Beardsley, MN where Laurel worked the family farm and Margie worked at the State Bank of Wheaton.
In 1960, Laurel and Marge moved to the Twin Cities. They worked alternating shifts so one of them was always home with the kids, Valerie, Mark, Wendy, and Greg.
In 1996 they retired to their lake home near Cumberland where their lives were filled with family, friends, travel, and spending time with granddaughters Avery, Ella, and Aliyah.
Marge loved music and her family has wonderful memories of her singing You Are My Sunshine, Mockingbird Hill, everything from The Sound of Music, and many other songs.
Memorials for Marge Lawrence will support enhancing accessibility for the Pavilion at First Lutheran Church, Cumberland WI.
