In Memory of Marjorie Hoff
After only a 9 week separation, Marjorie Ann Hoff, age 90 of Barron, joined her late husband, George in their Eternal home on September 3, 2021. It was their longest separation in their 72-year marriage.
Margie was born on September 8, 1930 in Rice Lake, to Vern and Ida (Hartzell) Bellows.
She attended Cameron Public Schools graduating in 1948.
What started as a last minute blind date, resulted in a marriage to George Hoff on November 20, 1948. In 1949, they took in her infant brother, Chuck, after her mother had died during childbirth. They raised him as their own son. They were blessed two additional sons, Mark and Todd. Together, they built Breezee Acres, a nationally known Registered Guernsey herd.
Margie was a dedicated farm wife that worked side by side with her husband farming. From tending to the animals, breaking ground to planting crops or driving tractor, Margie was with him from start to finish. In retirement, you could find them walking hand in hand several times a day to remain active and healthy.
There were always fresh baked goods coming from her oven. She was a master at homemade bread, delicious cookies and bars, phenomenal lefse, and new Christmas treats every day of December. She kept a very large garden that not only fed the family in the summer/fall, but was enjoyed year-round with all her canning of the bounty.
In 2002, George and Margie were honored for 50 years of leadership of the Peppy Pals 4-H Club, which they founded. In the early years of the Peppy Pals, monthly meetings were held at the Hoff residence. They far exceeded the job description of a 4-H Leader! Margie was known for her delicious cinnamon rolls that brought an amazing price at the annual 4-H auction. In the mid 1980’s, Margie was honored as Farm Woman of the Year.
Margie will forever be remembered as a loving farm wife, caring person willing to help anyone with anything, loving Christian soul and dedicated mother & grandmother. She has left treasured memories to many.
Margie is survived by her sons, Mark (Kelly) Hoff of Barron and Todd (Lynnea) Hoff of Cameron; brother, Charles (Wanda) Bellows of Cameron; 9 grandchildren, Matt (Misty) Hoff, Mitch Hoff and McKylie Hoff, Cassandra Hoff, Caitlynn Hoff, Carson Hoff, Shane (Nid) Bellows, Keith (Carie) Bellows and Troy (Tina) Bellows; great-granddaughters, Natalie & Hayden Hoff; sister-in-law, MaryJo Bellows; and step-sister, Arlene Mork.
She was preceded in death by his parents; husband; and brother, Roger Bellows.
A memorial service for Margie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021 at First United Methodist Church in Barron. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday, the 17th. Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron following the service.
