In Memory of Marion J. Turner


March 29, 1935 - October 2, 2024

Marion Joan Turner, of Centuria, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in Luck, Wisconsin. Marion was born on March 29, 1935, at her home farm in the township of Balsam Lake, to Alvin and Evelyn Swanson. Marion's life was a testament to the power of nurturing and the warmth of home.

Marion attended the Shiloh School from grades 1-8, then attended Balsam Lake High School and graduated in 1953. She met Charles Turner on a blind date, fell in love and married on August 21, 1954. They just recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Marion loved her family above all and always put them before herself. She also loved helping on the family dairy farm. She welcomed everyone and always had a pot of coffee on and food on the table encouraging you to stay and have a meal or treat. She was known for her wonderful homemade meals including her bread, buns, cinnamon rolls, pies and potato salad which will be missed by all. Marion enjoyed working outside including gardening, mowing lawn, and anything to do with the farm. She also enjoyed canning and playing cards and especially visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren which made her day extra special.

Marion is survived by her husband, Charlie; children: Cheryl Connolly and her husband Pat; Charlie Turner and his wife Lorraine; Jeff Turner and his wife Sue; Craig Turner and his wife Kristine; Karen Fjorden and her friend Bruce Rowe; and Maggie Ciak and her husband Bob; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Allen Swanson and his wife Jeanette; Jon Swanson and his wife Dianne; and her sisters, Katy Gruber and Judy Sarazin; sister-in-law Mary Swanson and many nieces and nephews, each of whom she loved deeply.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Evelyn Swanson; sister, Elayne Freeman; infant sister, Joyce; brother, Delmer Swanson and grandson, Jacob Turner.

The family would like to thank the United Pioneer Home and Adoray Hospice for their loving care.

Memorial service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 11:00AM at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service at the Church. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery on the Family burial spot.
