In Memory of Marilyn A. Johnson
Marilyn Adele (Fredeen) Johnson passed away peacefully with family by her side at St. Croix Falls Hospital on August 9, 2024.
She was born on January 31, 1933 in Farmington Township to Daniel and Marjorie (Mallin) Fredeen. She along with her two older brothers, Dale and Lowell, lived in rural Osceola until 1943 when they moved to Ubet. She attended grade school in Osceola and Ubet and graduated from Osceola High School in 1951. She attended UW-Stout in Menomonie for 2 years.
While living in Ubet she met her future husband Gerald (Jerry) Johnson and they were married on November 1, 1953. They made their home in Garfield Township on his family farm, where she lived for over 70 years. They were members of the Deronda Lutheran Church where she remained actively involved in the ladies aid until her health started to decline. They raised their four sons, Dana, Dick, Dan and Jay, while operating a dairy farm until 1977. At this time, she went to work at Golden Age Manor where she eventually became the dietary manager. After leaving the manor, she worked for the St. Croix Falls School district until she retired.
After retirement, she and Jerry did some traveling with friends. She also did several bus tours with her good friend Joyce and enjoyed volunteering with the American Cancer Society and Interfaith Caregivers. She also loved to play games or just spend time with family and friends while sharing a cup of coffee.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepfather, Ira; In-laws, Raymond and Dorothy; son, Dana; daughter-in-law, LuAnn; brother, Dale; nephew, Michael; sister-in-law, Peg; special friend, Martin; grandson-in-law, Shawn; an infant grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
Left to mourn are sons, Dick (Mary), Dan (Dona), and Jay (Rochelle); brother, Lowell; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; a niece; nephews; and other family and friends.
A visitation will be held at Deronda Lutheran Church on August 15, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, followed by her funeral service at 11:30 am. A private family interment will be held in the church cemetery that afternoon.
