In Memory of Margaret S. Niesen
Margaret Susan Niesen, 90, of the Town of Clinton, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Margaret was born August 20, 1933 at home to Gerhard and Margaret (Rischette) Niesen where she lived her entire life until January, 2024. Margaret had one older brother, John.
Margaret’s parents were dairy farmers that passed their love of the land, animals and hard work onto their children. After Margaret’s brother, John, passed away in 1991, Margaret continued to milk cows until she was 75 years old. Margaret also supplied the neighborhood with farm fresh eggs for many years.
Margaret’s family was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Almena, Wisconsin and were actively involved in the Sacred Heart Altar Society for many years. Years ago, it was common to see John and Margaret in Barron picking up groceries and supplies along with their two dogs riding along in the car. One dog would be riding in the front seat with John and the other dog would be riding in the back seat with Margaret. Margaret had a love for all animals, but especially her cats later on in her life.
Margaret attended grade school at the Catholic School in Almena and graduated in 1952 from the Turtle Lake High School. Margaret was smart as a whip and had a great memory until the very end. One of Margaret’s greatest joys and past-times was to play Bingo with her many friends she met in Chetek over the last six months.
Anyone that met Margaret met an incredibly sweet, kind and caring lady. Margaret is survived by cousins and second cousins in Wisconsin and Minnesota along with the many friends she met along her life’s journey.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 10 AM - 11 AM at Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland, WI; and will be followed by interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
