In Memory of Margaret Lawless


February 19, 1925 - October 22, 2019

Margaret “Peggy” F. Lawless, age 94, of Danbury, passed away suddenly on October 22, 2019 at Spooner Health. 

Peggy was born on February 19, 1925, in Sutton Coldfield, England, to parents, Ethel (Webb) and Joseph Dayman. She attended Four Oaks Public Schools. After school, she worked as a dress maker for Madam Tousards in Sutton, England.  She contributed to the war efforts by working in a factory. She met her second husband, Jim, a solider in the U.S. Army. In 1947, Peggy and their daughter, Carol, moved to Jim’s hometown in Iowa Falls, IA. Then in 1957, the family moved to the Webster, WI, area. 

Peggy was a wonderful seamstress and knitter. She found great joy in knitting sweaters and Christmas stockings for her grandchildren and mittens for the Dorothy Day Center and the local schools. In her free time, she also liked to do jig-saw puzzles and read. Peggy’s passion was buying and selling antiques. Jim and Peggy owned the Webster General Store for 11 years, eventually turning it into an antique store.

Peggy is survived by her daughters: Carol (Pete) Harmon, Elizabeth (Duane) Stager and Judy (Marshall) Hill; 15 grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren. 

Preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Dennis Rowan; second husband, James Long; third husband, Ben Lawless; special companion, Loyal Lunde; daughter, Susan; and 2 granddaughters. 

The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church in Webster with Pastor Eddie Crise officiating. Interment to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
