In Memory of Margaret E. Allison


Margaret Elizabeth (Torrie) Allison, age 95, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away on December 26, 2022.

Margaret was born in Camrose, Alberta Canada. She moved to Madison, Wisconsin as a teen and graduated from high school there. She met her husband, Keith on a blind date while working at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She and Keith enjoyed 66 years of marriage.

She was a skilled seamstress, gifted quilter and knitter. She was active all her life, Margaret was a hiker, camper, square dancer and walker. Just this past Christmas at 94, she received a pair of hiking poles to make her daily walk around the block a bit easier. At Maplecroft, Margaret was known for her walking habit and her crazy socks.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Dave) Aggen, Joan (Helmut) Porcher and Beth (Richard) Allison-Strauss. Margaret is further survived by 7 grandchildren, Rachelle, Peter, Kaitlin, Rebecca, Lauren, Scott and Elise; as well as 5 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Keith.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at hospice and Dove in Rice Lake for their kind and compassionate care.

A private family interment will be take place at a later date at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.

If desired, memorials in Margaret’s name may be made to the Barron Community Center (she enjoyed water aerobics with the “Mermaids”, or the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
