Mardell Marie Hafele Age 85, of Rice Lake, WI passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Brentwood Memory Care with her family by her side.

Mardell was born November 19, 1933 to Louis and Olevia (Dorcey) Brueggen in Oak Grove Township, WI. A lifelong resident of Rice Lake, Mardell attended Dobie Catholic School followed by vocational school in Rice Lake. On October 9, 1965 she married Robert “Bob” Hafele and they enjoyed many loving years together. Mardell worked at Quality Dairy, JCPenney’s and Bush & Gilles Shoe Store before staying home to raise her family. Later she worked for families as a caretaker and house cleaner. Mardell was an avid gardener and a talented baker, taking much pride in all the wedding cakes she decorated over the years. No one appreciated her cooking and baking more than her grandchildren and she loved to make each one their favorites every time they visited. Mardell was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great grandma.

Mardell will be deeply missed by her son, Steven (Carolyn) Hafele, daughters, Jennifer (Michael) Weseli and Michele (Scott) Bowe; 9 grandchildren, Rachel (Tyler) Greschner, Gregory Hafele, Madeline (Ryan) Kay, Matthew (fiancee Kiah) Weseli, Joshua and Megan Weseli, Bridget, Ben and Ryan Bowe; and a great granddaughter, Layla Rose Greschner. Mardell was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; infant son, Wayne; her parents, Louis and Olevia Brueggen and her brother, Marvin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Friday, September 27, 2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dobie, WI, Father Samuel Schneider and Father Dave Oberts officiating, with interment in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Thursday at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the Funeral Service on Friday.

Mardell’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Lakeview Medical Center Hospice as well as Kevin and all the staff at Brentwood Assisted Living and Memory care for all their care and support.
