In Memory of Luther Alfred Herman

Luther A. Herman, Jr. 92 a longtime resident of Newark, Delaware passed away on October 11, 2018 at the Villas Assisted Living in Spooner, Wisconsin. He was buried in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery on October 15, 2018.
Luther was born on November 3, 1925, son of the late Luther A. Herman, Sr. and Bertha Bowersox Herman in Penns Creek, Pennsylvania. Luther served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was at the invasion of Saipan and Iwo Jim the day the flag was raised.
He founded Herman’s Quality Meat Shoppe in Newark Delaware in 1967. He was a member of the Brookside Lions Club, a Mason and a deacon in the Presbyterian Church. He loved playing and watching golf, reading and enjoyed rooting for Navy when Army and Navy played their annual football game.
Luther is survived by his loving wife of 72 years Jeanette Hackenberg Herman, son Lynn Herman and his wife Audrey Helfman of Spooner, Wisconsin; daughter Terri McKinnell and her husband George McKinnell also of Spooner; son Curtis Herman and his wife Debra Herman of Pocono Manor, Pennsylvania; and his daughter-in-law Christine Herman, widow of deceased son Timothy Herman of Newark, Delaware. Also surviving him are his sister Ruth Miller of Muncy, Pennsylvania and his sister-in-law Joan Herman of Mifflinburg, PA. He will continue to live on in the hearts of his 13 loving grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews.
Luther leaves behind a legacy of love and the zest for life that he shared with his family, friends and many former customers.
