Luella Peterson, 90, of Spooner, WI, died surrounded by family at Spooner Health System on July 30, 2017.

Luella was born October 4, 1926 in Ladysmith, WI to Henry and Elsie (Helbig) Vogt.  She graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1944 and then went to work as a secretary for a while at the American Red Cross in St. Paul, MN.  She attended night school for comptrolling and then worked as a secretary/comptroller in the Northern Pacific Railway office.  She married Andrew Peterson in St. John’s Evangelical Church in Shell Lake on September 15, 1946.  She and Andy were members of Faith Lutheran Church in Spooner and were active with the Aid Association for Lutherans (Thrivent).  She also taught Sunday School.  Luella was a 4-H leader with the Lincoln 4-H Club.  She could always be found helping out at the Washburn County Fair.  She was also the Beaver Brook town treasurer.

Luella is survived by daughters Doris (Gene) Rydberg of Barronett, WI, Darlene (Dan) Carlson of Crown Point, IN, Mary (Rich) Scheffel of Centennial, CO, Linda (Jeff) Sundquist of Omro, WI, and Jeannie (Stan) Kendrick of Boulder Creek, CA; sons Dale (Chris) Peterson of Appleton, WI,  Richard Peterson of Appleton, WI, and Glen Peterson of Eau Claire, WI; 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Peterson, an infant daughter, Karen Mae Peterson, her parents Henry and Elsie Vogt, and 2 sisters Leona Richter and Myrtle Hahn.
