Lucille Fern Wiebe Mininger was born to Isaac and Gladys (Redger) Wiebe, on October 9, 1941 in Hillsboro, KS. After battling cancer for almost 10 years, God gently took her home on August 6, 2024. She reached the age of eight-two years.

Mom gave her heart to the Lord when she was in her early teens. She was baptized into the Mennonite faith on December 11, 1965 She quietly and steadily served God all her life. Even in her lowest times she never gave into self-pity or discouragement.

Mom met dad, Edward Mininger, when he went to Kansas for work. They were married on May 3, 1968, and enjoyed 56 happy married years. They made their home near Almena, all their life. Four boys were born to them, and she delighted in being a ‘mom of boys.

After retiring, they, along with Dad’s sister Shirley, ran a Navajo taco stand at the local farmers’ market. Thousands of “Lou’s tacos” were shaped by her hands through those years.

Surviving with precious memories are her husband, Ed, sons, Brent & Anne of Newell, SD, Karsten & Julie of Almena, Darin & Becky of Coon Valley and Kevin & Nicole of Clayton; 20 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ransom, Clayton & Betty Rose and Richard; sister, Christina & Lester Friesen; brother-in-law, Bob & Charlotte Mininger; sisters-in-law, Agnes Giesbrecht, Patricia & Bob McCormick, Shirley Mininger and Sandy Wiebe.

Preceding her in death are her mother; father and step-mother; her parents-in-law; brother, Ken; sister, Lillie, 6 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law.

There will be a viewing at Hillcrest Mennonite Church located south of Poskin on Saturday, August 10, from 4:00 until 6:30 p.m. A funeral service will be at the same location on Sunday, August 11, at 10:30 a.m. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
