In Memory of Lucille DeBriyn


April 5, 1924 - November 14, 2019

Lucille (Lucy) Knapp DeBriyn, age 95, of Cable, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Aspen Acres Assisted Living in Hayward, WI.  She was born April 5, 1924 in Cable, WI, the daughter of Edmund and Velma (Shoaf) Knapp.  She attended all 12 school years in Cable.

Lucy attended “U of Minn” for two years and “U of Wis” for two years where she graduated. She also attended and graduated Minneapolis Business School. She was united in marriage to Louie DeBriyn of Ashland, WI. 

Lucy taught art for 29 years in Scottsdale, Arizona.  She loved painting, writing and she was an avid reader - rarely without a good book.  She was also on the golf team at Tahkodah Hills, A.E.T.C in curriculum, the American English Society, and the Wisconsin Poets Society.

Lucy and Louie spent all of their summers at their cabin on Rosa Lake in Cable, WI.

Lucy is survived by her grandson, James (Candice) DeBriyn and great-grandchildren, Aaron and Hannah DeBriyn of Mesa, AZ; and nephew George (Kelly) Knapp and their children, Kenneth Knapp, David Knapp, and Karin Knapp of Drummond, WI.

In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louie; her son, Danny DeBriyn; and her brother, Colonel Robert E. Knapp.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cable, where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of Mass.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Cable.
