In Memory of Louise A. Martinson
Louise Ann Martinson (nee Hanson) died peacefully after a brief illness on October, 12, 2024 at Osceola Medical Center in Osceola, Wisconsin.
She was born on August 24, 1934 in Delavan, WI to Ruth (Woolsey) and Wilfred Hanson. She was the oldest of 4 children. The family moved to a dairy farm near Chetek, WI, where Louise graduated from high school. She attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison and earned a B.S. in Food Science. Her first job was in the food lab at Pillsbury in Minneapolis. She met her husband-to-be, Sidney Martinson, at University of Life, Hennepin Ave. Methodist Church. They were married on April 12, 1958 and lived in Crystal, MN.
Because Sid was raised in the Methodist Church, she was baptized as an adult and became an active Methodist/United Methodist for the rest of her life at Brunswick UMC, Crystal then Osceola UMC in Wisconsin. Louise and Sid raised three children. She had five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren at the time of her death.
Louise and Sid shared many favorite activities: couples clubs at Hennepin Ave. and Brunswick UMCs, Bible study groups, square dancing, camping with the family, playing cribbage, and working out at the YMCA when Sid retired. In addition to nearly daily trips to the “Y” Louise biked at least 2000 miles a year for nearly 20 years.
She worked part-time for District 281 schools in food service and then at the district office coordinating supplies and kits for science classes. She also managed the food service for Brunswick UMC for many years. Louise made time for church volunteer work, leadership in the United Methodist Women, and singing in the church choir.
In 2019, two years after Sid’s death, Louise moved to Dresser, WI to live with her daughter.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and granddaughter Sarah.
She is survived by siblings Roberta Pierce, Judy Brauer, and Thomas Hanson (Linda), children Donna Martinson, Paul Martinson (Ann Marie), and Alan Martinson (Carolyn), grandchildren John Martinson (Victoria), Andrew Martinson (Elizabeth), Thomas Martinson, and Amelia Martinson, and her great-grandchildren.
Memorials preferred to the Osceola United Methodist Church.
