In Memory of Lorraine Scheps


August 11, 1929 - February 16, 2019

Lorraine Alice Scheps, 89, of Almena passed away on, February 16, 2019 at Mayo Northland, in Barron.. She was born August 11, 1929 in Reeve, WI to John and Mary (Ritchie) Dado. She went to school at Clayton High where she was the valedictorian for the class of 1948. 

She met Adolph Scheps at Richardson Pavillion in November of 1950. She later married him in Almena, WI on September 27, 1952 who preceded her in death on August 21, 2012. Lorraine was blessed with 8 children. She worked hard on the family farm. She enjoyed milking cows, unloading hay and straw bales, having a big garden and mowing the lawn with the riding lawn mower. Both she and Adolph were recognized by many different papers and organizations for their farm and herd. In 1987, she was named "Farm Woman of the Year." Her husband was even quoted in an article saying that "If you don't have a good wife, then you can't have a good farming operation. I have both." Their farm was the top producing herd in Barron County for many years.

Lorraine had a strong faith and was life long member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Almena. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. The quality time she had with them meant a great deal to her. 

She is survived by: 4 daughters, Kathleen Scheps of Boulder, CO, Debbie (Jim) Selvig of Barron, Laurie (Randy) Manske of Blooming Prairie, MN, Linda (Mark) Krummel of Apple Valley, MN; 4 sons, David (Connie) Scheps of Turtle Lake, Kenneth (Debbie) Scheps of Almena, Dale (Sandy) Scheps of Almena, Dan (Valeri) Scheps of Almena;
19 grandchildren; Evelyn, Amanda, Jennifer, Brooke, Jenna, Kayla, Derek, Nolan, Kristin, Amy, Erica, Brian, Amber, Sarah, Michael, Jonathon, Greta, and Drew; 20 great grandchildren with 2 on the way; sister; Delores Sorenson, Jeanette (Marvin) Dietrich, Shirley (Jim) Aus, Marlene Davis; sister-in-law, Dora Rockow; brother-in-law, Arnold Scheps; and many other family and friends. Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Scheps, and granddaughter, Katie Scheps.

Visitation will be at the Turtle Lake Skinner Funeral Home location from 4-7 PM Tuesday, February 19, 2019, and one hour before the funeral service,. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Tom Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers are Brian Scheps, Derek Scheps, Jonathon Scheps, Nolan Scheps, Tim Goodlet, and Jon Halverson.
