In Memory of Lorraine Langland


August 29, 1925 - January 24, 2019

Lorraine Loretta Langland Age 93, died Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Country Terrace Assisted Living in Spooner, WI.

She was born on August 29, 1925 to August and Cora (Heffelfinger) Steltzner in Rice Lake where she grew up and graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1944. She married Llewellyn (Jack) Langland on October 22, 1946. The young couple spent time in Chicago before returning home and settling on the banks of Moody Lake in the town of Madge in rural Washburn County to raise their family. Lorraine worked as a restaurant cook at the Narrow Gauge Inn and Gabriel’s, later the 4-Seasons, in Sarona.  Later, she spent many years in a career at Wright Products in Rice Lake for over 18 years retiring in 1992. Lorraine was an excellent cook and would make sure any visitor was served a delicious meal.  As a talented seamstress and crafter, she was always working on a new project, usually gifting them to friends and family.  Lorraine loved music and played the accordion and organ. She loved to dance and her senior years were spent attending a weekly dance where she would visit with friends and dance the polka.

She will be missed by her 3 sons Llewellyn Jr. “Jack” (Sally) Langland, George Langland, and Richard (Mary) Langland; a daughter Lorraine (Chuck) Toman; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Llewellyn; an infant daughter, Susan; sisters Irene Peabody, Eleanor Marable, Teresa McManus, Leona Frommader, Lucille Owen and Viola Olson; brothers Clarence Steltzner, Norman (Red) Steltzner, Raymond Steltzner, Lewis Steltzner, and Lawrence Steltzner. Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Stanfold Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Rev. John Bergson officiating, with interment in the Madge Evergreen Cemetery in Sarona, WI.

Visitation will be held from 9-11AM at the Church. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
