In Memory of Lonnie Butterfield


July 3, 1964 - January 21, 2019

Lonnie Martin Butterfield, 54, of Minong died Monday, January 21, 2019 at Essentia Health in Duluth, MN. He was born July 3, 1964 in Shell Lake, WI to LeRoy "Jim" and Margaret (Forrestal) Butterfield. Lonnie graduated from Spooner High School in 1982, then began his career in cranberry farming, first in Trego, then Hayward, and eventually in Minong. He married the love of his life, Candy Ingram in Sarona on July 16, 1988.

His greatest joy in life was spending quality time with his family. He had a soft heart for animals and children, but equally enjoyed outdoor activities. Lonnie was also an exceptional cook and enjoyed preparing big meals for his family. Music was always a huge part of his life and encouraged his children in their love of playing. 

He is survived by his wife, Candy of Minong; 4 children: Dalton (Laura) Butterfield of Ely, MN, Jake (Jericka) Butterfield of New Richmond, Zeb Butterfield of Ely, MN and Travis Butterfield of New Richmond; 2 grandchildren: Carson and Silas; mother, Margaret of Sarona; 2 brothers: LeRoy (Dawn) Butterfield of Hayward and Darin (Charlotte) Butterfield of Sarona; 2 sisters: Lori Gajewski and Margaret Call, both of Athens; brother-in-law, Bob Call; nieces, nephews and cousins. Lonnie was preceded in death by his father, Jim; sister, Lorna Call.

There will be a memorial gathering held for Lonnie on Sunday, January 27, 2019, from 1-4 held at the Frog Creek Town Hall.
