Lois Erma Meyer, 88, of Cumberland, passed away on June 14, 2021 at home in Cumberland, WI.

Lois was born in Shell Lake to Erma Nathalie (Millard) Bakker and Hubert John Bakker, the third of four girls, on April 22, 1933.

She went to school at South Dewey School, the one room schoolhouse down the street from her home. She worked for Liberty State Bank in the Cities before marrying Marvin Sutherland on the 20th of December, 1953 in Shell Lake, WI. They settled in Cumberland and had five children together. She got her CNA license to work in the ECU in Cumberland, WI. After Marvin's death, she married Earl Meyer in 1979 and worked bookkeeping for Stella Cheese until she retired. She was heavily involved in the Cumberland Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Cumberland First United Methodist Church, an active member of the United Methodist’s Women, a canasta club participant and a member of the bowling league.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her sisters Pat Messenger and Marilyn Scalzo, and her grandson Ty Hulleman.

Lois is survived by her sister Linda Mullikan (Gerry); her children Tim Sutherland (Nan), Tom Sutherland (Julie), Vicki Hulleman (James), Vonnie Gabriel (Perry), and Terry Sutherland (Nancy). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, with a thirteenth on the way.

Visitation will be Friday, June 18, 2021 at Skinner Funeral Home-Cumberland from 4-7pm. Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Cumberland First United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service, with Pastor Mike Brubaker officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery with a luncheon at the church afterward.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren Kyle Anderson, Grant Sutherland, Devon Binsfeld, Jill Sutherland, Taylor Sutherland and Jacob Sutherland. Honorary Pallbearer will be Lainey Gorrance.
