In Memory of Lloyd D. Johnson


December 5, 1939 - June 6, 2024

Lloyd Dwane Johnson, age 84, a resident of Grantsburg, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at Abbott Northwestern hospital on June 6, 2024.

Lloyd was born on December 5, 1939, to Raymond and Lois Johnson, in Falun, WI. He was the third of six children, born at the family farm.

Lloyd attended Grantsburg schools where he enjoyed playing football and baseball.

He was united in marriage to Eileen Swanson and from this union they had four children – Melody (Leon) Kruse of Rush City, Julie (Dave) Dahlberg of Grantsburg, Darran (Sue) Johnson of Grantsburg, and Dwane (Merly) Johnson of St. Cloud.

Lloyd worked for Penta Wood Products, LeJune Steel, and Orin Thompson Homes where he started his carpentry profession. He was a hard worker and sought by many to complete projects around Grantsburg. He was always building something in his shop and later in life, his hobbies included building lawn ornaments and benches.

Hunting and fishing filled many hours of his free time, often with his best friend Dale Chell or other close friends and family members. When Lloyd and Eileen retired, they wintered in Tucson, Arizona for ten years and made many friends from all over the United States.

He will be missed by his wife of 67 years, his four children, his grandchildren Brian (Jen) Kruse, Brenda (Nick) Skiba, Andrew (Rosie) Dahlberg, Kathryn (Jason) Spadanuta-Castello, Allen Johnson, Patricia (Jason) Mathers, Nathen Johnson, Patrick Johnson, Christopher (Eri) Johnson, Kevin Johnson, step-granddaughter Melanie Johnson, and great-grandchildren, Travis, Austin, Victoria, Damon, Mavis, Destiny, Brandon, Annabelle, Joshua, Grayson, Clark, and Leo, sisters Blanche (Andy) Anderson of Texas, Nina (Doug) Dewing of Grantsburg, brother Norman (Bonae) Johnson of Grantsburg, sister-in-law Ardy Johnson of South Dakota, brother-in-law Wayne (Sandy) Swanson of St. Croix Falls, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Judy and Chuck Anderson, brother Raymond Johnson, step-granddaughter Carla Kruse, and great-granddaughter Brianna Dahlberg.

Celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church of Falun on Saturday June 15, 2024, with visitation beginning at 10am and service at 11am. Luncheon will follow at the church. The family will hold a private burial at a later date.

Arrangements are entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home.
