In Memory of Linda Skweres


July 6, 1945 - June 9, 2019

Linda M. Skweres, age 73 of Hayward, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN.

Linda May was born July 26, 1945 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Genevieve (Durlak) Kurowski. She will never be forgotten because she loved everyone and treated everyone equally. Linda was a lover of life. She raised six of her own children and hundreds of other people’s kids too. She was a clown- meaning that literally. She was once “Pockets the Clown” at Mom and Pops’ restaurant called Buda’s Bowow’s in Chicago, IL. Linda spent most of her life in the restaurant business, and eventually owned Grandma’s Hayward Inn. She will be missed and loved in death as she was in life. 

Linda is survived by four sons Daniel Jr. (Donna), Alpharatta, GA, Robert (Paula), Drummond, WI, Joe (Debbie), Hayward, and John (Marla), Sandusky, OH; two daughters April Skweres (Dave), Hayward, and Barb (Phillip) Martin, Hayward; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; six brothers Jerome, Harold, Kenneth, Gary, Richard and Doug Kurowski; her sister Jacqueline Simons; and many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Genevieve; brothers Donald, Roger and Joseph; and sisters Rita and Patsy.  

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward. Fr. Gregory Hopefl will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hayward. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. 

Honorary casket bearers will be Linda’s grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be David and John Johnston, Nate Kelley, B.J. and Joey Skweres, and Andrew Starita.
