In Memory of Linda L. Hughes

March 2, 1949 - May 21, 2024

Linda Lee Hughes, age 75, passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of May 21st, surrounded by her husband David, her best friend Dawn Washburn, and her daily caregiver. She was born to her father Elmer Raymond Keppen and mother Lois Lorraine Keppen at the Siren Hospital.

Linda led a full life, raising two boys, going to sporting events, chauffeuring her mother Lois and aunt Eileen, spending time at the lake, water skiing, golfing, fishing, hunting, baking cakes, sewing, and traveling with David. Always busy, Linda was a hard worker, helping her mother keep the resort going once her father died, cutting firewood, teaching Sunday School, working as the Church’s treasurer, volunteering, and keeping up on the lawn/house care.

Growing up in the Webster area, she and David moved to the Twin Cities following their marriage, she then went with David to Germany after he was drafted, moving back to the Webster area after her father died. She was happiest barefoot in the summer, again either working or playing at the resort. She was an excellent and avid golfer, being able to out-drive most people twice her size. Once the grandkids were born, nothing made her happier than being able to spend time with them frog catching, watching them play in the lake, going to their sporting events, or just hanging out.

A very strong woman, Linda fought off cancer two different times, continually fought her nerve condition, and lastly fighting dementia.

Linda is survived by her husband, David, of Danbury, Sons, Aaron (Rindy), of Plymouth, Mn., Philip (Joy) of New Richmond, Wi., grandchildren, Noah, Mason, and Jack, of New Richmond. She is also survived by her brother Jay (Deanna) Keppen, of Barron, Wi., and many cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, and brother James Keppen.

Many thanks to the staff of St Croix Hospice and her daily caregivers for their loving care.

Funeral services for Linda will be Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Danbury United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aaron Hughes, Mason Hughes, Philip Hughes, Jack Hughes and Noah Hughes.
